DistanceAn experimental narrative, shot on 16mm. Directed by Ryan PhilanderI shot this film on "short ends" or the leftover film stock from other people's productions with 4 different cameras Arre SR, Arri S, Arrid BL and a Bolex, all 16mm various stocks, b&w and color, tungsten and daylight balanced. The assignment was a short film, experimental non-sync sound. This was my first film, shot on actual film.It's about a finding your muse, in some ways. 1 actor plays 3 different roles, that of a writer with writer's block trying to finish a novel to get the commission (who places a bet with a bookie), a painter trying to find a subject to paint about and a soldier who has gone AWOL trying to get back to the woman he loves.
